The role

You will own the electronic design of our seeker hardware: the sensor front end, the processing carrier and the interfaces that connect them to an airframe. This is a small team, so the work runs from schematic to bring-up to test to the version that goes into production.

This role is on-site in London. You must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

What you will do

  • Design and bring up mixed-signal PCBs for an electro-optical sensor front end and its embedded processing.
  • Specify and evaluate sensors, optics interfaces, power stages and connectors against size, weight, power and cost constraints.
  • Take designs from schematic capture and layout through prototype build, bring-up, debug and environmental test.
  • Define the mechanical and electrical interface between our hardware and customer airframes.
  • Work with UK suppliers and manufacturers to make designs producible at volume, and own the resulting documentation.

What we are looking for

  • A degree in electronic engineering, or equivalent capability demonstrated in industry.
  • Practical experience taking hardware from schematic through layout to working prototype, and evidence you have debugged your own designs on the bench.
  • Comfort with the instruments: oscilloscope, spectrum analyser, thermal chamber.
  • Experience designing to genuine SWaP and cost constraints rather than to a specification with room in it.
  • Ability to work with incomplete information and decide anyway.

Useful, not essential

  • Experience in defence, aerospace or another regulated, safety-relevant industry.
  • Familiarity with electro-optical sensors, imaging pipelines or FPGA and SoC carrier design.
  • Exposure to environmental qualification, or to design for manufacture at rate.
