The role
You will build the software that decides what the seeker is looking at and what to do about it: detection, classification, tracking and terminal guidance, running on constrained hardware, in real time, with no network and no second chance.
This role is on-site in London. You must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.
What you will do
- Develop and optimise perception and tracking software for an embedded target, in C++ and Python.
- Train, evaluate and compress detection and classification models to run within a tight compute and power budget.
- Implement and tune guidance and control logic, and validate it in simulation and hardware-in-the-loop before it flies.
- Build the test harness, data pipeline and evaluation tooling that tell us honestly whether a change made things better.
- Work directly with the hardware team on what the sensor gives you and what the processor can afford.
What we are looking for
- Strong C++ and Python, with real experience writing software that runs on embedded or resource-constrained hardware.
- Working knowledge of computer vision and modern detection or tracking methods, and the judgement to know when a classical approach beats a learned one.
- Experience with real-time systems and the discipline that comes with a deadline measured in milliseconds.
- A rigorous approach to evaluation. You measure before you claim.
- Comfort owning a problem end to end in a team without layers.
Useful, not essential
- Experience with guidance, navigation and control, state estimation or sensor fusion.
- Experience deploying models to edge accelerators, and quantisation or pruning in anger.
- Robotics, autonomous vehicles, UAV or defence background.
